About

My name is Jeni Garcin and I love all things outdoors. I live in Montana with my two dachshunds, Izzy and Chloe.

I’m an avid outdoorswoman hoping to inspire others to get outside, especially women and those afraid the outdoors doesn’t include them. It’s okay to get out and do it, and do it alone if you want.

My experience in the outdoors

Raised on a ranch in southern Idaho, I grew up hunting, fishing and horseback riding. I later guided trail rides in Grand Teton National Park for several years, before landing in Helena and becoming a government communications professional.

In a past life, I had a string of horses and mules to pack into the Bob Marshall Wilderness. While I no longer have the animals, it’s a skillset I’ll never lose. Plus, I’ve expanded my outdoor adventures to many other activities over the years.

I’m known for going out by myself, getting off trail and exploring off the beaten path. I backpack, mountain bike, shed hunt, trail run, hike, ski (cross country and downhill), snowshoe, hunt, and if someone will let me come rafting, I’m all in.

I believe in quality outdoor gear and feel you’ll never waste money on good equipment. Spend the money on quality and you’ll have it for years and many adventures.

Other Endeavors

I’m the owner of Keep Cool Consulting, a communications consulting firm specializing in public relations for local government, non-profits, small business, and environmental, engineering and construction firms. To top it off, I’m a public information officer on a wildfire incident management team as well.

I’d love for you to follow this blog and come along on my adventures. I intend to share authentic information based on real life experience, mishaps and success. I’ll lay it all out there for you to help in your outdoor journey, provide entertainment and keep us all connected to the outdoors.
